Warren Compound
Santa Barbara, California 2000
This traditional California hacienda design began as an homage to the historic Santa Barbara Presidio, with its memorable story and a half entry façade. Careful manipulation of building forms allowed a discreet, embedded two story wing at the head of the courtyard plan, following the strict height limits required by the California Coastal Ordinance at this sunny, ocean bluff, oak-studded setting.
A pool house, recreational facilities and extensive drought-tolerant native landscape complete the site plan composition. Strong plaster forms, and exposed structural woodwork result in a well-grounded, timeless execution.
